Tuesday, November 30th. Fast SpA president, Mr.Emilio Benati, as Mechatronics Club president, was yesterday at the meeting: “Mechatronics in Reggio Emilia: who they are, what they do and what the district companies ask for", that took place in the Banco S. Gemignano & S. Prospero meeting hall.During the meeting, at the presence of Mr. Duccio Campagnoli, responsable for Production Activities for Emilia Romagna area and Mr. Fabio Storchi, Assindustria president, the results of an enquiry coordinated by Mr.Lucio Poma from Antares have been presented. It is a study that defines identity, boundaries and features of this new industrial district, born from the meeting of mechanics, electronics, information technology and automation. The enquiry, promoted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Association of Reggio Emilia supported by Mechatronics Club, has been organized in two different phases: first, the mechatronics companies have been listed, and an enlarged district, including 220 enterprises, has been identified, whose core is composed by 132 companies, then their main features have been analyzed and highlighted.

The resulting picture shows the excellence of the mechatronic district enterprises, that appear as very competitive on the international market, better organized with respect to other industries of the area and their size is, on average, six times bigger than other companies in the metallurgic and mechanic field in Reggio Emilia. Moreover, in the last few years, they grow their sales volume and registered an higher productivity level due to mechatronics added value and, in general, to investments in research and innovation.

Satisfaction has been expressed by Mr. Emilio Benati, president of Fast and Mechatronics Club, who, already thinking to the future, said: The data collected during the enquiry and the their reading become an important and useful tool to define adequate politics for territorial development in order to help the enterprises networks in the great challenges they are called to face.A lean toward the future that gives evidence of the Mechatronics Club trend and perfectly weds the development philosophy of Fast, always committed in the research of advanced solutions.
