FAST SpA and AMT (Advanced Microturbines Srl), a company specialized in microturbines, have co-operated within the SME Instrument Phase 2 European Project entitled “Innovative Microturbine Technology For Delocalised, Off-Grid Electricity Generation” to develop an integrated solution for energy autonomous telecontrol, that is self-powered by the microturbine. The Microturbine is an energy harvesting device that uses the wasted gas energy when this is throttled. The energy is captured by the Microturbine and converted into electric energy, directly available in situ. It’s a major step forward in the energy recovery culture in the world of gas distribution. The initiative has been appreciated by the major gas utilities that would benefit from having a continuous off-grid energy source in remote areas that allows to have an increase in the efficiency of the gas distribution network and increase its environmental friendliness. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 732493. www.airwatt.eu
