Italcementi invests 150 million to implement in Rezzato (Brescia) the more efficient and environmentally friendly cement plant in Europe. The plant, built in 1964, is involved in a deep technological renewal, in fact, Italcementi has decided to operate on a project that aims to combine environmental needs with production requirement. The project involves the construction of a new clinker gray production line instead of the current two.
The investment places the cement plant at the top in the world, because of the high level of technology and the high environmental sustainability. The entire production cycle is interested in the renewal process that will lead to a reduction of energy consumption, noise pollution and especially to a reduction of between 20% and 80% of all emissions from the cement plant.

Fast, having won the international tender, is main contractor for the realization of the main control system (MCS). Fast will then be committed to the projecting, the electrical engineering, the development of application and supervision software, the realization of electrical control panels, the commissioning and on-site service.
Fast puts the know-how acquired over thirty years experience in implementing a system based on innovative technological standards such as a Siemens Simatic PCS7 platform and a PROFINET architecture. In particular the Rezzato cement plant will be one of the biggest plants in which PROFINET is used as communication standard. The choice is motivated by the need to create a consistent communication, with a engineering extended to entire plant. Equipment of a different type are then interconnected in the network; data from different production areas will be collected and shared and additional packages will be integrated into the system such as emission control and laboratory analysis.
Tags to be controlled are about 7000, considering those wired, the fieldbus and the connected additional packages. The commissioning and assistance activity require a commitment of about 5000 man-hour.
The start up of the new structure is scheduled for the end of 2014, at the end of the work and testing operations.Italcementi
