Fast is going to finish the realization of 54 computerized control system including hardware and software to manage the water extraction from the aquifers in the Libyan desert and the subsequent purification processes. The great water transport project, called “The Great Man Made River” , includes thousand of miles of huge pipelines, buried underground to eliminate evaporation, and has a strategic importance for the country since it allows to convey water from the underground desert sources to the cities of Tripoli, Benghazi and other settlements of the Libyan coastal belt. The whole supervision system is based on the Fast software Plant View HMI – SCADA whose human-machine interface has been especially appreciated by the experts involved in the project. Once again the power of Client/Server architecture based on OPC technology has been the choice that made the difference on the quality of the technical realization. Each one of the 54 control systems has been tested in the climatic chamber expressly built in Fast labs to simulate the hard climatic conditions of the Libyan desert.
